Did you know that Luther Burbank High School has had a mountain bike team since 2006?
The program helps at-risk, disadvantaged youth by providing a safe, healthy activity. The team is a well-kept secret, but it's no secret that they need your help to succeed. It costs $1,295 to provide adequate gear, a safe bike and race fees for each new rider. Unfortunately, many of the riders live at or below the poverty line and are unable to provide their own equipment for safe racing.
Here's how you can help: Come into Peet's Coffee on the corner of Alhambra & Folsom Blvd. in Sacramento between December 17-24, 2011. Purchase a beverage, donate your change at the register, and Peet's will match every dollar donated. It's just that easy!
Please help the team meet their goal of $10,500 before the start of the 2012 racing season.
